The Eisenhower Matrix: Master Prioritization
"What is important is seldom urgent, and what is urgent is seldom important." - Dwight D. Eisenhower. This quote is the foundation of the most effective prioritization tool in existence.
The Four Quadrants
Draw a square and divide it into four. Place every task on your list into one box:
- 1. Do First: Urgent & Important (Crises, deadlines).
- 2. Schedule: Not Urgent & Important (Exercise, planning, learning).
- 3. Delegate: Urgent & Not Important (Some emails, scheduling).
- 4. Delete: Not Urgent & Not Important (Social media scrolling).
Focus on Q2: Successful people spend most of their time in Quadrant 2 (Not Urgent, but Important). This is where growth happens and crises are prevented.
