Journaling: Clearing Your Mental RAM
Your brain is for having ideas, not for holding them. When you try to remember your to-do list, your anxieties, and your brilliant ideas all at once, you use up your "Mental RAM." This leads to brain fog.
The Brain Dump
The most effective journaling technique for focus is the "Morning Brain Dump."
Simply open a blank page and write down everything currently on your mind. Fears, tasks, random thoughts. Do not edit. Just get it out of your head and onto the paper.
Why Paper Matters
Writing by hand stimulates the Reticular Activating System (RAS) in the brain. It signals to your subconscious that "this matters." Typing does not have the same neurological effect.
Evening Review: Before bed, write down the 3 most important tasks for tomorrow. This allows your brain to relax and sleep, knowing the plan is already set.
