Parkinson's Law: Why Work Expands to Fill Time
"Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion."
If you give yourself one week to write a paper, it will take one week. If you give yourself 4 hours, you will surprisingly finish it in 4 hours. This is Parkinson's Law.
The Illusion of "Busy"
When you have too much time, your brain creates complexity. You over-research, you procrastinate, and you obsess over details that don't matter.
Artificial deadlines force you to focus on the "Essential Few" tasks and ignore the noise. Stress, in small doses, is a clarity enhancer.
Cut it in Half: Next time you have a project, estimate how long it will take. Now cut that time in half and set that as your deadline. You will be amazed at your efficiency.
