Never Forget Again: The Power of Spaced Repetition
If you cram for a test, you will forget 80% of the information within 24 hours. This is called the "Forgetting Curve." To beat it, you need a technique called Spaced Repetition.
Instead of reviewing information every day (which is inefficient), you review it at increasing intervals: 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month.
The Leitner System
This is the analog version of Spaced Repetition using flashcards and boxes.
- Box 1: Every day. (New/Hard cards)
- Box 2: Every 3 days. (Medium cards)
- Box 3: Every week. (Easy cards)
If you get a card wrong in Box 3, it goes all the way back to Box 1. This ensures you spend energy only on what you don't know.
Go Digital: You don't need physical boxes. Use free apps like Anki which automate the algorithm for you. It is the standard tool for language learners and medical students.
